True value comes only from following the LORD
Numbers 22: 21–23
“After King Balak tried to bribe Balaam with great riches he saddled his donkey & went with Balaks princes to Moab. But GOD was angry with him, because of his greed. As he went the Angel of the LORD stood in the road to oppose him. When the donkey saw the Angel standing in the road with his sword drawn she fled into a field. The LORD had not yet let Balaam see HIS wrath.”
GOD let Balaam go with Balaks messagers but was very angry with him because of his greedy attitude. Balaam pledged he would not go against GODs WILL but his resolve was slipping away like the morning dew. His greed for the wealth the King offered him blinded him to what GOD wanted him to do. We too may know GODs WILL for us but like Balaam become lost in our own lust for money power or prestige. We can avoid his deadly mistake by looking past the transitory allure of our lost world, fame fortune the desires of the flesh to the lasting long range benefits of a permanent Spiritualy based relatioship with our FATHER.
